The .chsrc file can also contain modifications to the PATH variable, which tells the shell where to look for executables.
Add the line: setenv PATH /sw/bin:$PATH
Anywhere in the file. In this line, the $PATH thing is expanded to what the variable already contains, so you're effectively pre-pending the text '/sw/bin:' to your PATH variable. (Also demonstrates the order of operations for this kind of csh command.)
Hope this helps,
Charlie

hi group,

have done a mistake and deleted my .cshrc file.
now i created a new one with the following line in it:
"source /sw/bin/init.csh"
the terminal.app works well

but fink doesn`t work now ;-(
when i want to execute any progamm (installed with fink) i get: "command not found"

e.g.1
"joe" doesn`t work!
but
"/sw/bin/joe" works well!

e.g.2
"sudo dselect doesn`t work"
but
"sudo /sw/bin/dselect" works well!

but when i hit any point of dselect it says e.g:
/sw/lib/dpkg/methods/apt/update: apt-config: command not found

what source-command i must include in .cshrc to "repair" fink?

thanks in advance,
tom
