I tried doing a
"fink install jabber"
and received this message:
"fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual
dependency..."
The alternatives are for either xfree86 Placeholders that assume an
existing xfree86 install or the xfree86 package itself.
The Jabber install is for the jabberd server daemon not for any
clients, so I'm wondering why there is a dependency on xwindows. Is
there a way to work around this other than bypassing fink and
installing jabberd manually? I really do not want to install xwindows
just to experiment with the jabberd server.
Thanks.
Jeff
