The command you want is "ppower4" not "ppower4p"; ppower4p was a command in earlier versions of ppower4 but does not exist in the current version. You don't need to install pdflatex, since that package is obsolete. The pdflatex command is now found in the tetex-base package. You cannot install pdfslide with ppower4 since they both want a file called "pause.sty", but the two pause.sty files are incompatible. I personally use foiltex in conjunction with ppower4, since that is what is used by all of the examples supplied with ppower4. (You can find the example files in /sw/share/doc/ppower4).
