I don't know what mixture of stable and unstable trees you are using, but when you have mysq112-shlibs installed, your listing should also show mysql12-dev
ah yes, this was a mistake. i switched back to stable after installing mysql-4. sorry.
BTW: i noticed that somehow mysql-4.0.15.tar.gz was removed (although renamed to *mysql-4.0.15.tar.gz) as well as the version 3 tar-ball from my source directory! which program has done this and why? I just want to keep there whatever I download.

Isn't this the answer to your question below? You seem to have the GUI installed already.
I am looking for something which lets me create a GUI or mask to a database: fields, and buttons to let me search, change, enter fields etc....maybe something like filemaker, but accessing a MySQL database. AFAIK such a thing exists for windows/linux (www.fabforce.net) and should also be available for OS X?! I can not believe everyone uses Mysql databases through a web interface or with the command line.
