I have been working with emacs compiled from fink under 10.2.8 using the Apple's x11 and wm. I upgraded to Panther this weekend and built from source both emacs 20 and 21. When I launch emacs from either a terminal or an xterm, it is launched ONLY in the window itself and not in its own window. However the DISPLAY variable is correctly set and xclock is launched correctly in a separate window. It is as if the emacs20 and 21 X-windows versions are configured as "nox" i.e. for terminal only. Any help would be appreciated - I don't get colors and have problems with my key settings in this mode. I would prefer not to have to figure out how to fix this.
