I ask because when i use dselect to install gimp, it asks me if it's ok to install a bunch of dependancies including xfree86-base and xfree86-base-shlibs

I thought apples X11 package would provide all the relevent X11 client libs itself, or is it only a bare server and wm?

Note it also trys to remove system-xfree86, isn't that the 'virtual' package that tells apt i already have X11 via apples X11?

I am doing a binary install....

esound, audiofile.... grr i just want a graphics editor, what's it need all these audio programs for... gnome-libs??? gimp doesn't need gnome.
