You still can use selfupdate-cvs. No one forces you to do rsync. It is just that for many people rsync is working better right now.


Commander listed 2727 packages, whereas I have only 1675 with Fink 0.6.2 on Panther.

This is more or less normal (I am at 2067 on Panther now, but this is counting quite a few packages that have been installed under Jaguar already). There are still many packages that are not yet available for Panther, for various reasons. Either they don't compile or they compile but don't work, or the maintainer has not yet had enough time to look after all his packages and to move them over to Panther.
