Is system-perl needed in Mac OS X 10.3? The .deb and .info files I have for
system-perl are all in the 10.2 and 10.2-gcc3 trees. However, "fink list system-perl"
produces the following output (even after rebuilding the index):

i system-perl 5.8.1-1 [virtual package representing perl]

On the other hand, "dpkg -r --force-all system-perl " results in the following contradictory warning:

dpkg - warning: ignoring request to remove system-perl which isn't installed.

What gives?

system-perl is now a virtual package that automatically detects your system's version of Perl. You can't remove it.
