How complete (i.e. what packages does it contain, does it have the IDLE etc) is the Panther installation, and is it worth installing the Fink version also, can the two co-exist etc etc.
Second, the install did fail (assuming it is suppose to work on Panther). I am running 10.3.3 and the latest developer tools with the following:
homework:~ rmendels$ fink --version Package manager version: 0.19.2 Distribution version: 0.7.0.cvs
The error in compiling gmp is as follows:
checking whether vsnprintf works... yes
checking whether sscanf needs writable input... no
checking for suitable m4... m4
checking if m4wrap produces spurious output... no
checking how to switch to text section... .text
checking how to switch to data section... .data
checking what assembly label suffix to use... :
checking how to export a symbol... .globl
checking if globals are prefixed by underscore... configure: error: Test program links neither with nor without underscore.
### execution of ./configure failed, exit code 1
Failed: compiling gmp-4.1.2-11 failed
Any help, information etc, appreciated.
