Both xwd -root | xwdtopnm | pnmtojpeg > screen.jpg
and import -window root foo.jpg produce a picture of my desktop (as defined by xsetroot -solid black) -- but I was under the impression that they should actually produce a screenshot of what I see when I look at the computer. Does anyone else experience the same phenomenon?
