It's more like it's the black sheep of SMTP apps - other MTAs are generally considered to be more reliable, secure, and easier to maintain (I'm quite happy with postfix).
From my point of view, I am growing _very_ tired of the constant sendmail bashing from people that really do not know that much about it. (and that sentence is _not_ directed at you Sebastian :) )
And postifx.. isn't that the silly MTA with the binary queue files ? <grin>
