I read Fink's X11 manual and have taken the following steps according to what I believe the directions are:

1 Installed Apple's X11.app
2 Installed Apple's X11 SDK
3 Installed Fink's system-xfre86-43 package(s):
i system-xfree86 1:1.0-2 Placeholder: XFree86
i system-xfree86-43 4.3-3 Placeholder: XFree86 4.3.x and Apple X11 1.0
i system-xfree86-upgrade 1.0-1 (place-holder package for upgrading broken installs)

You should not have installed system-xfree86***. It's generated automatically. So now, go to the web site and read and <http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-packages.php#apple-x11-wants- xfree86> and the next two QAs.
