The errror message (unknow % expansion ...) itself is a bug in a
package which the maintainer should fix. I don't see what package
caused the error in your message other than "python%type_pkg[python].

Anyway, if you just want to install gimp (or gimp2?), pick gimp or
gimp2 and go Binary -> Install, or run "apt-get install gimp2" in
Terminal.app. It is better to run "fink selfupdate" before you run
apt-get because you are using a very-old fink (FinkCommander can do
from somewhere in the menu).
