Since XCode 2.1 has only recently been released there may be unforeseen issues between it and Fink. If you're willing to take the risk of installing 2.1 and reporting any issues that you find in building Fink packages, that would be very helpful!

For what it's worth, I've been running with 2.1 engineering builds for some time now, and it seems like a better release for Fink than 2.0. It fixes a number of ICEs which hit things like netpbm. The only new failures I'm seeing fall into two classes.

One, there are a couple of C++ standards conformance fixes which went in between 2.0 and 2.1. That causes some failures.

Two, we now check command-line options more strictly. Before, we didn't always catch misspelled command-line options, we often just dropped them silently (if they had the same prefix as a valid option.) Those will now be errors.

Have you tried bootstrapping with the new gcc? I think it breaks the compilation of dpkg-bootstrap.
