I don't understand exactly how debfoster works, but it seems that there might be another problem than missing dependencies: I contacted the mainainer of msmtp and he told me the package that souldn't have been removed is correctly listed as as a dependency (and I have the latest version available). > > I also like to have a relatively "clean" system, but usually keeping > unneeded packages causes no problems, so it's safer to leave things > installed if in doubt. Anyway in my case the goal was mainly to see how much disk space I could gain by removing unwanted packages, since I'm beginning to fear that I will eventually run out of space. I have since learned that this is of little use, since the .deb files are kept in the system. This leads me to another question: is it safe to remove everything in /sw/src? Most of the files seemed to be gzipped tarballs, I figured it might do no harm. But some things are directories, I don't know if I can remove them?
