Another (GB) user of fink unison 2.10.2, Michael Fourman, confirms
that setting LANG solves the glib problem for him, and also provides
the helpful tip that 'locale -a' will give you a list of valid values
for LANG.

[You can set the locale permanently either by adding 'export
LANG=xxxx' to your ~/.bashrc or by editing your
~/.MacOSX/environment.plist. See [1] for detailsof the plist method]
