Exit status 1. I've been unable to reproduce this error on my 10.3 machine (which is what I assume you're on, since you're building 3.5.2-12) What version of gcc do you have? (gcc --version), also, do you have any existing versions of xpdf installed? (I don't know if that will make a difference, but I thought I'd ask). And do you have anything in /usr/local that could be conflicting?
