It was indeed a long thread. I tried the same search again
(on sourceforge, not gmane). It seems to be the sourceforge
search concept of "relevance" that pushes it down the
output, and after ordering by date I didn't scroll past all
the "commit" noise. Doing an "advanced search" is what I
should have done.
