Several reasons come to mind.

1) Did you selfupdate again after enabling the unstable tree?
2) If so, are you using rsync or cvs updating?
3) And, if your clean install was from the binary installer on OS 10.5,
(always useful to specify that piece of information), there is a known
issue with a known workaround.
