OSX 10.5.8, PPC (PowerBook G4), Fink unstable tree, latest Fink, all updates applied, using XQuartz X11-2.4.0, xcode 3.1.3
Problem: Ghost Script fails. For example, gs -v returns dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11/lib/libX11.6.dylib Referenced from: /sw/bin/gs Reason: Incompatible library version: gs requires version 10.0.0 or later, but libX11.6.dylib provides version 9.0.0 Trace/BPT trap Previous posts regarding this error suggested reinstalling X11, but reinstalling X11-2.4.0 does not correct the problem. I have attempted to use X11-2.5.x (x=3 currently) but am unable to obtain usable graphical output. The colors are wrong, tending toward blues and yellows. Window icons have yellowish backgrounds. Formerly solid backgrounds are distorted. For example, the background for the Sol window shows horizontal stripes of speckled blue and white with speckled bands of black in between. The speckles appear to have a pattern and are of a reddish color. I have tried installing in a fresh "Test" account but get the same results. Gnome configuration settings (as far as I can tell) have no effect. I am at a loss as to what else to do. Since X11 2.5.x wasn't working, I reinstalled X11 2.4.0. I know that gs -v returns the correct results if X11 2.5.3 is installed. Is it possible and if so, advised, to replace libX11.6.dylib with a later version? Thanks for help and suggestions.
