For a long time, I've preferred to use wget over curl, and installing it
through FInk was quick and easy.
This morning I went to do a fink update, and now all of a sudden wget
reports all these as dependencies:

Really? /Really/?
This seems a tad overblown -- why all these dependencies all of a sudden?
At a glance it looks like maybe the 'wget' maintainer(s) have moved the
documentation over to some sort of system that demands all this extra stuff
in order to build an info file or a help file or something?
If that's the case, and as a general plea, can we maybe offer "util-nodocs"
package builds to avoid this kind of rampant dependency spreadage?
I see absolutely no reason why I should need to install 'gtk-doc',
freetype, openjade, and a mountain of docbook bumpf just to have access to
a conveniently built command line utility that fetches web resources.... to
get the docs for the utillity, I suppose, is the answer?
Given that so many of these utilities have web-hosted docs and resources to
help users quite nicely, a general policy of "nodocs" versions of the
packages, or at least a "wget-docs" co-package, might be a great idea that
would save some of us from this kind of thing?
As it is, I've removed wget, and now am seeking some other way to get it
that won't load so much extra stuff onto my laptop's HDD...
Sorry if this is a bit ranty: I really like Fink and have been using it for
years, but this is the second package I've looked at in a few weeks
(enchant being the other one) that seems to come pre-associated with mounds
and mounds of dubious dependencies... 8(
