There may be a misunderstanding (courtesy of update-alternatives): Fink 
has two versions of xdvi, one from the xdvi package and another one, 
called xdvik, from the texlive-base package. Thanks to 
update-alternatives, they both may respond to the name "xdvi". Which one 
you get can be found by running

  update-alternatives --display xdvi

They have different window decorations (X toolkit vs motif toolkit). 
Only xdvik has a menu bar and a toolbar on top. In the version of xdvi 
(sans k, AKA "xdvi.xdvi") I see here, the toolbar is on the right, no 
menu bar.

This is true for both versions of xdvi.
