Off topic for this firelist but there is a way to fix it. Described

It's the same annoyance I have with Mail.app: it doesn't even add 
AM/PM so you're confused whether a mail was sent in the middle of 
the night or in the afternoon, or to mention another one. Apple's 
binding of default paper size to the locale (Come on..., I can 
speak English and use US software but that doesn't mean I have to 
order Letter paper to print something out....:)). Again, fixes are 
found on MacOSXHints but it requires you to tweak property files, 
etc...
In general I would appreciate US developers to take into account 
other parts of the world outside of the US.
