OK, I will try to get some more information on this. Maybe I can try to fix
this myself if I get a chance and get more familiar with the code, or it
might just be a Yahoo problem.

I would rather the functionality be such that if the chat window is
inactive, a notification sound is played. Just hitting the mute button would
not notify me of new messages from an already opened chat window, and it
would be something that I would find myself doing every time.
