Hello, everyone! I'm Meredydd, the Everybuddy MSN
developer, borrowing James's account, so please send
any responses to this email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Also, please put "msn" somewhere in the subject line
so it gets sorted into the right folder!

Anyway, James has said lots of good things to me about
Fire. I'm not a Mac user myself (I use Linux), but I'm
told that you use the Everybuddy MSN library. Here's
the current status - the old library, let's face it,
it cr*p. It was one of the first of its kind, done by
Shane several years ago. I took over the reins about 9
months ago, and all I've done is try to make it a
little more bearable.

However, as of a couple of months ago, I'm rewriting
the library from scratch, using nothing but the spec
and Ethereal. Current feature list:

- basic messaging / logging on/off / changing state
- multiperson chat (if the client can handle it)
- completely asynchronous, so no more hangs waiting
for the server!

The moment MS settles in court, we will almost
certainly get access to the protocol specs, and I can
do voice chat - I might try reverse-engineering it
before then, but I doubt I will get anywhere.

However, despite my vague roadmap, the library is
still (a little) immature, and certainly still
flexible. Now's the time - what do YOU want from an
MSN lib? Please send all replies to me
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) as well as to this list. I
await your feedback!

PS - if you want a taster of where the lib's at right
now, get the source tarball at
http://blackhole.wincoll.ac.uk:8080/, and tell me if
there are any compile problems on OS X, and
(preferably) how I can mnodify the code to fix them!
