Hi, I am new to Visual Studio (normally I work with Delphi/Firebird) and I am having trouble in connecting to Firebird with the .NET Data Provider. I have just installed VS 2010 Pro on Windows 7 Pro. After that I installed the Firebird .NET Data Provider V2.5.2 with the .msi installer and the DDEX V2.0.5 following the instructions on the DDEX ReadMe.txt. By the way, there are two files on the DDEX install file: FirebirdSql.VisualStudio.DataTools.dll FirebirdSql.VisualStudio.DataToolsUI.dll Using the gacutil I installed the first one on the GAC without a trouble, but when I tried to install the second, I got an error message regarding a missing manifest file. I am not sure if I need to install both or just the first one. In order to add the Firebird connection in Visual Studio, I select the Connect to Database button in the Server Explorer window. Then I choose the Firebird Data Source and the problem is on the Add Connection dialog. If I try to select a database file or try to type in any text box, the dialog closes unexpectedly. After reading some of the archive mails I found some installation instructions saying that it was necessary to install the Visual Studio SDK, so I installed it but the problem continues. I will appreciate any help for this. Best regards, Carlos. |
