I used to run Firebird 1.5 databases on domain controllers, and it
worked fine. The databases did not reside on the same disk as the
active directory database though.

Issues with Windows domain controllers and other server software are
not Firebird-specific. Microsoft even recommends to not install their
own DBMS (SQL Server) on domain controllers. The same goes for other
server software like MS Exchange.
