I don't know what this new 'Activation model' is all about, but 1.4a17
is broken completely. I use firebug for a wide array of things, not
least of which is AJAX monitoring and sometimes HTML/CSS tweaking. But
this new version 1.4x is completely useless.. To the point where even
getting the HTML/CSS tweaking to work on a page is a pain in the ass.
Trying to view AJAX requests is just a nightmare.

Why was this 'change' implemented? What was it expected to address?
Can we not go back to per-site activation? Right now I have FireBug
turned on and (I assume) it's chewing away at every site my browser
loads and that is NOT acceptable.. GMail just HAS to be turned off,
and there are so many other sites that I just don't give a ****
about.. So again I ask WHY was this change implemented? Remember,
don't fix what is not broken.

But, I may also just not realize how this new version of Firebug
works, maybe you have to jump through hoops a different way to make
the new firebug work? If so could you clue me in to how it's supposed
to work now to do the common tasks it's used for before I (and
apparently some others of us) blow our brains out trying to debug
AJAX?

If I can get Firebug usable for what I need to use it for in the line
of work then I'll be happy no matter what this 'activation model' is,
but currently I'm back to doing things the hard way because firebug
just plain doesn't work. (
