You need to add A record for the FQDN(Fully Qualified Domain Name) of your server in your DNS server...i.e. First you need to specify the DNS server on your client machine so that it can resolve FQDN to IP address and subsequently connect to that server...second you should check if there is an entry for your server in the DNS server(you are specifying on the client machine)...

Bottomline is you can't just communicate with name on the Internet..basic connection is through IP address only...

I believe you may need to add the name to your DNS tables to ensure that it knows that (name) = 126.233.xxx

Subject: Question

Good Morning All,

I have a question.  I have a server up with a valid IP address 126.233.x.x.  If I telnet to the box via this IP address I can get in ok.  If I try to telnet to it via the name of the machine it tells me it can not find it.  WHY.  I thought that once a box can be seen it should be seen no matter what?

I am sorry for the dumb question, but I am new to this firewall setup.

Thank you again.

Steven
