Great!  Where can we get your W2k-port of Squid (which is part of that
system,
too)?

The problem as presented sounds like a SAMBA problem to me. Replace SAMBA
with W2K, problem solved, squid is happy, users are happy. If you really
want to be nitpicky, slap ISA server (or Proxy server) on the box to proxy
the net. Not a port, but hey, if people can consider SAMBA to be a
replacement of W2K, under those same guidelines ISA/Proxy is certainly a
replacement of Squid...

Solving problems through disconnecting is not exactly what I'd call solving
problems...

I never said it was the best, or only solution. I also never said it would
be liked (and truth be told, I expected many people to dislike it, with the
MS bigotry that is so prevalent now days). I will say though that if one was
using W2K, instead of trying to make something look like W2K, the problem
wouldn't likely exist (Squid/Samba problem).
