I have encountered several problems with the PIX software. But they have
_all_ been addressed in an impressively small timeframe by Cisco. Their
support is superb. Then again, I work for a major Cisco account, so I have a
big stick to hit them with.
The original poster mentioned wanting application proxies - the PIX
certainly won't get you that. It does have a decent range of fixups for
things such as FTP and SMTP that handle application-specific issues, but not
to the level of a good app proxy.
