I worked extensively with the last rev (2.1). I was not thrilled with it.
We had several problems that could never be explained, but I think the
most frustrating aspect of the product was that patches tended to fix one
thing and break two others that were working before.
In all fairness, I did not get to really test version 3.0, but that is
only because we decided to cut our losses, and go with Firewall-1 instead
of upgrading.
Unless you are just strictly a Novell shop, I would look at another
solution.
Things I liked about BM3:
Transparent Proxy Authentication
The web proxy cacheing feature is awesomely fast, combining the web
cacheing technology of Harvest and Novells file sharing cababilties
Integration with NWADMIN
Things I did not care for:
The filtering was very limited
Limited number of application proxies (2.1 had 1 and 3.0 is supposed to
have something like 5, but I prefer stateful inspection myself)
Support was not stellar
