I'm curious if you were able to get Netscape to acknowledge NT userids and
groups, and I'd appreciate a site to find out more about the CSM proxy.

Dave,

Netscape Proxy can be configured to recognise NT userids and groups, however
this is VERY expensive. What you need to do is to run Proxy in conjunction with
Netscapes Directory server (LDAP), this is the expensive part.

Once LDAP has been installed you need to install NT LDAP synchronisation module
which sits on the PDC for the domain you want to synchronise with. The sync
module will then keep the PDC synchronised with LDAP. LDAP will then see all
your NT users and groups, and once you configure your Proxy server to use LDAP,
you can then use these users in your Proxy access lists.

One point to mention is that when the sync module has been installed it has to
sync all of the users on that PDC, and therefore you need to ensure you have
Netscape Directory server licensed for that many users. This is the case for all
the domains you want to sync with.

Once installed it works quite well, but it is very expensive considering this
functionallity is free with MS Proxy Server, and if you want to keep it secure,
you will need to run the sync module over SSL. For this you will need to get a
digital certificate.

If I can be of any help, or you need any further information, drop me a mail.

Regards.
