I've read the rant on the firewalls list from Feb last year concerning
information systems security certification. Aside from the naysaying, is
there anything positive to recommend? "It will not work" is fine if you
want to stick your head in the sand, but running away can save
one's...posterior.
What counts? Certifications? (I'm a CISSP and took the CISA test last
Saturday) Publications (articles in what? Mine are Sys Admin). Speaking
presentations? (Mine have been at SANS and NISSC). What else?
So how DO you tell? And how can someone who does NOT have IS security
expertise tell, in a couple of hours, if someone else does? I'm not
particularly interested in "this doesn't", I'm interested in what does.
Thank you.
