yes, you can use FW-1 as a transparent Proxy.
Caching is not supported, afaik
If FW-1 is installed correctly, it's quite secure. An advantage is the
transparency, so the users don't need to configure their browsers for a proxy.
User Authentication is supported, in HTTP a window pops up and the user has to
authenticate. Another way is to use the session authentication. Here a client
is running on the user's machine and pops up for authentication.
Filtering is possible. Here I mean filtering URL's and stripping ActiveX, Java,
JavaScript. In addition an Anti-Virus Check is possible (CVP or Proxy).
For FTP this works also, in addition you can decide to allow/not allow FTP GET
and PUT. User Authentication is a bit tricky, but works. Here a session
authentication is recommended. Also for FTP there is no caching, afaik.
