While PPTP isn't THE most secure solution, it is simple to implement.
And since you are interested in connecting NT to NT over the Internet,
all you have to do is install the PPTP protocol on your NT RAS (or RRAS)
server and on the NT client PCs. BE SURE TO INSTALL Service Pack5 at a
minimum. The orginal implementation of PPTP is buggy and must be service
packed!
The only issue you need to overcome on your Linux firewall is opening up
protocol 47 and port 1723 both ways to allow PPTP to pass, unimpeded,
through your firewall.
