I am posting this to the list with the idea that many people may wish to use
PitBull to protect home network gateways/firewalls/masquerading boxes. It
is my sincere hope that people will find the announcement of a free tool for
individual use (particularly for locking critical systems such as firewalls
and gateways) as being on topic.

I have personally followed many of the threads through the years on
combining Trusted Operating System technology and firewalls, and hope that
many of you will now have the opportunity to explore such ideas
through the Argus Revolution program.

Cheers,

Argus Systems Group has launched its Argus Revolution program that is giving
away free non-commercial licenses of its B1 Trusted Operating System
enhancements for Solaris called PitBull. Early members of the program will
also receive a free Argus Revolution T-shirt.

PitBull allows administrators to keep application exploits from leading to
complete system penetration or access to other applications on the system.

PitBull currently runs on Solaris 7 (MU3) sparc & x86. It is being ported to
AIX, UnixWare, and Linux for IA64 and 32 bit kernels.

We believe in our technology and want to get it into the hands of
individuals who can engage in a dialogue about the usefulness and
shortcomings associated with our product. We believe that both Argus and the
individuals using our products benefit from this open exchange. We believe
that when people
begin to use and understand enhanced platform security like that provided
with

PitBull, they will not want to run their secure systems on anything else.

The PitBull SDK, example code, discussion forums, and more are being made
available on the Revolution portal.

The Revolution portal site is at: http://www.argusrevolution.com/
The Argus corporate site is at: http://www.argus-systems.com/

Welcome to the Revolution!

Jeff
