I've been using one at home and it works pretty well from a firewall point
of view. I'm also running a software-based firewall on my laptop just to be
safe. You do need to make a few minor changes to your home PC/laptop's
registry if you are using PPPoE connection. But the router modifications
are extremely simple, IMHO.
