Let me first make sure I understand the question. You want to figure out the
subnet mask of another machine, remotely?
My first choice would be go over to the machine and run ipconfig, or Unix
equivalent (I am not a Unix guy :)) and get the information that way. If
however you are trying to programmatically do this, for example you are in
Texas and the computer is in California, it gets more difficult. If they are
Windows based clients, you can use WSH or WMI against them to read that
information. Check out http://cwashington.netreach.net for example scripts.
I don't know if Unix hosts have similar features. HTH
