Well, shucks, I had no idea I might be somehow making any kind of innuendo or
whatever, but this here "administrator" named "scanmail" has apparently seen
fit to "quarantine" my (innocent) message on the basis of "Sexual
Discrimination".
I'm tossing this into the ring here in a simple spirit of
consciousness-raising -- programmatic semantic interpretation of human
communication, such as this, both illustrates and raises a host of
technological and social issues.
Its ever more obvious to me that when evaluating an employer, a key
consideration (for myself that is) is the social aspects of their security
policies and practices. I would not want to have my communications filtered in
such a fashion (or at all).
I'm a newbie to this particular list, and I suspect that this list isn't
necessarily the appropriate place to discuss the social implications of this
sort of technology. Does anyone know of a more appropriate list for that?
thanks,
JeffH
ps: there are "newsletter" lists, as opposed to discussion lists, where the
author(s) expound on such topics, i.e. on the social implications of networked
computing and such. A prominent (imho) one is the Red Rock Eater News Service,
an archive of which is available here..
