You should NOT allow SMB through Firewall!
Reconfigure your SQL server to use TCP/IP only on port 1433, this is done in
the Client Network Utility (available fronm Start -> Program -> Microsoft
SQL Server 7.0). Never, never allow those terrible SMB packets through your
firewall!

SQLEM seems to use RPC over Named Pipes (over SMB) to talk to the server.
