But they did. This is slightly off the topic in the subject line, but I know of one ISP that set their smtp server to retry two or three times an hour or so apart and then bounce it. My oldest brother uses that ISP and his e-mails to me were bouncing one day when our provider was suffering from a six hour net outage.
