You might want to take a look at IPcop (www.ipcop.org). Its a rather nicely packaged Linux firewall distribution. Its got a web based admin interface, but you can get into the shell and tweak things. At the moment it uses ipchains as its based on the 2.2 kernel. The next version will be built on a 2.4 kernel.
