(Just my personal opinion)

Because the switch generally includes all "command like" words, and
penalizing those who understand how to (a) follow instructions or (b) know
how mailing lists work because a few people ignored the "don't throw this
away" mail they got when subscribing, the links in the headers and the
last ditch effort of putting a footer at the bottom of every single
message with a link to the list management interface is generally seen as
a bad thing. (Note: I haven't looked at the Mailman implementation to see
if it's smarter than Majordumbo^H^H^H^H^Hdomo's was.)

Pandering to those who are too lazy or incompetent to follow directions
at the expense of actual list contributors has been generally seen as a bad
thing.

The intended audience of this list is supposed to be computer
professionals who implement security controls on networks. If they can't
either follow the spoonfed directions or figure out how to operate the
user part of Mailman or Majordomo, they pretty much deserve to be Hotel
California'd.
