This is a fantastic solution. I have it in 2 of the shops where internet
connectivity is a requirement and they have yet to experience an outage that
is circuit related. When the train derailment affected other companies DSL
and T1 circuits, their circuit was still up as it went thru the 2nd POP as
you described.
I would recommend it highly.
There is literally nothing for you to configure or switch if there is an
outage. It's a very nice solution.

Subject: OT: Value Shadow T1 Line?
Our ISP, UUNet is proposing a "shadow T1" line to backup our existing
T1.
This would involve a separate, dedicated telephone line routed to a
different POP than our current POP (both POP's are located in
California). The shadow line would support the same subnet of IP
addresses we currently operate.
The price for this shadow service is about 1/2 of our primary T1 monthly
charge.
I'm wondering if other folks on the firewall list have considered this
or a similar redundancy configuration, and if they have found it to be
valuable.
TIA
Harry
