For completeness I will reply here as well, A long while back I raised the issue of "Clustered History" similar to what I used to do with multiple history files in bash. https://github.com/fish-shell/fish-shell/issues/1995 The size of fishes history has meant that in practice I have pretty much been able to do without such a feature, however, smaller limits on commands like cd would make me reconsider that possibly.
