I’ve been using Fish for a month now and loving it. I am using it on two computers.
One one (mac air) the shell properly colors different syntactic elements just like the screenshots show on the site On the other, the shell displays white text on a black background. As far as I know I am using the exact same configuration In both cases I am using the latest version of iTerm2 In both cases the same version of El Cap. I am not sure where to look to sort this out. The only reason it matters is if it’s an indication of some other more important problem.
