Ruthie, I am assuming you wanted this email to go privately....? But then, I have never seen you make that mistake before, like many of us have! :) I think what has happened here is that some of us somehow found out about the logo being up for potential change and are obviously opposed. It was mentioned in the Herald (although both you and I, that I am aware of, completely missed it) so I am assuming the BOD assumed we all knew about it. With us discussing this on the list and asking numerous questions, I also am assuming the BOD does not think we are appreciative of their volunteerism and work and are also thinking we are most likely being combative. (I know, a lot of assumptions.) In such a scenario, it is human nature to be defensive, and this is what I think has happened in regard to some of the comments we have seen from the couple of BOD members who have responded. Now, I know that everyone I have ever spoken with fully respects the work being done by the BOD. This has never been in question. I cannot even begin to count the times Mike May has helped me out! He has always been there to discuss any possible situation concerning a Fjord and I have a feeling he does not know how much all of us appreciate him! Most of us rarely talk with the other BOD, although our appreciation is given to them, too. However, this particular discussion has been quite important, I do believe. It has given us some input into the way the BOD is currently being run, a new look at some of the bylaws, plus things to ponder concerning committees. I mean, it started as a discussion of the logo, progressed to how the membership voices are heard, then evolved again to a discussion of committee work. These are very important issues that obviously indicate something is not quite working well...and as our membership is growing, maybe needs to be looked at! I do believe you are right, Ruthie, and we should work toward creating a draft to present to the BOD concerning this logo change. I am not overly fond of the idea of only sending it to the president, though, my preference would be to include the entire BOD in the mailing. I am going to reread the bylaws over the weekend, I hope. What is the process for voicing an opinion concerning a matter that is before the BOD? Is Catherine correct in our voices not being heard unless we are a committee or BOD member, or in actual attendance of a meeting? For that matter, is there an actual appeals process? I do not remember since in the bylaws before, but it has been a long time since I have read them. Lynda Lynn... I'm so tired ...just got back from taking the filly to brand inspector in Libby and a long day here ... maybe I can sort out what you're Asking in the morning, but for now suffice it to say.... I have ON GOOD AUTHORITY that the bylaws do say this ... they're posted at www.nfhr.com you Know ... whether or not they're current I haven't looked ...
