I know that "blak"
essentially means dun, but "uls" is not the word that I learned for "white"
when I took Norwegian in college a hundred years ago

** My guess is it's dialect, or a word specifically used to describe a horse
color (like palomino, grulla, etc.). Dialects are like different languages,
for example, the words I know for white are kvit, hvit, kvite, and hvite. I'm
sure there are plenty others!
