Hi all,

This last weekend I set foot(opps, hoof) into the show ring for the first time
in over 20 years. Taffy Mercer worked hard to get some Fjord classes included
in the Franklin County Open Horse Show so we HAD to show up! Latigo was not
really ready for the show ring but off we went. I entered in the Fjord
Pleasure Driving class and the Horse Obsticle Course, Open class. The Pleasure
driving class was first and our competition was the very talented Reina owned
and driven by Taffy. Latigo really was a trooper and he really tried his best
to keep his composure when the loud speaker blared(in his openion). I was very
pleased with the way he went and the second place ribbon looks real pretty(red
IS my favorite color!!). Reina and Taffy were perfection! Our next class was
the Obstacle course. Latigo was wonderful! He tried really hard to do all
that silly stuff that I was asking him to do and it really paid off--we won the
class!!(I'm starting to like blue!). That was it f!
or that first day. Reina also was entered in the Fjord English pleasure class
that day and was the only horse in it--but she did a fine job of showing how
wonderful the Fjords are. She placed 1st!!(heehee)
The next morning my husband Fred took Latigo in the Log Skid class. He did a
fantastic job with a nice clean run--just not fast enough as Reina beat his
time by about 13 seconds!! Once again a nice red(did I mention that I like
red?) ribbon. We had to leave just after that so I will include here the
e-mail I got from Taffy about the rest of the day! Reina was still going
strong!! What a wonderful time we had and we made a very good impression with
the rest of the show people--they loved us all! I had more fun than I ever had
before at a show!!
>From Taffy:
Wow! What a fun weekend!

After you left I took 1st in Pleasure Driving Horses, 14.2 and over! I beat
out an Arab! I couldn’t believe it! Yahoo!

Carrie got 1st in Fjord Western Pleasure since she was the only one entered.
And of course, Reina got the Versatility Award.

When Carrie was done riding the Western Pleasure Class the announcer thanked
the PNFPG for having Fjords at the show for everyone to see. There was a big
round of applause! I think we were a hit!

The mini people are still talking about doing the log skid! I think they
really liked the excitement of all of us whooping and hollering and having fun
